I simply think your point is immaterial. It doesn't matter. We aren't helping Iraq out by buying their oil. They aren't helping us out by selling their oil. I said the oil is part of a "metaphorical" pool, but I certainly didn't suggest it was all dumped into some international container.

It is a silly argument. We don't want *THAT* oil, IT came from Iraq. We want only oil from Saudi Arabia. Worldwide commodity markets just don't work that way.

By my reading of YOUR link we averaged 800K bbl/day from Iraq out of 3M bbl/day from Iraq or 27%. Not that it matters a damned bit.
