Agreed. I would not be long yet but your comments ring true. One thing that bugs me is that I think the market has had a couple of chances to squeeze but it did not. O/I is looking market bullish to me too. But the charts say this can still go either way

Massive fund outflows this week. Not sure if its capitulation or a nasty trend. It will be tough to squeeze if the latter is the case.

Watch that Softie wedge on the 120-min for a clue.

Edit-Have you noticed how pitiful the volume is? Especially on the Naz. No momentum either way without some more fuel, could mean more Jell-O. 1.2 Billion on the Nasdaq?? Looked like a holiday or something

Don't know how true this reflect the "real world", but according to thomsonfn.com, there seems to be some institution buying today.

I like to watch NVLS intraday and the 3 amigos in semis (KLAC, AMAT, NVLS) showed a lot of buying. Just in case, I covered my short near the close today because of this, also because NVLS has been having a hard time piercing 27.x-28 level, i will reshort once we get a clean break.

I think you're right on...here's what i'm thinking too...

let's say for the sake of argument that today's low...or anything that stay's above that linear trendline at 830 tomorrow, is a short term low.

the 38.2% retracement bounce from 830 SPX would be right too the current log trendline now at 870

Gann retracement analysis maintains that if a stock cannot take out the 38% retracement level, the larger trend will reassert itself and the stock will go to new lows

50% retracement and it's even odds

if it takes out the 61.8 then analysis says that odds favor new highs.

Program trading ticked back up this week fwiw... and a 20 million share block of the Nasdaq trust went off above the ask this morning towards the end of the 1st 1/2 hour of trading

Allan, when you say that you feel that
"the Oct lows will hold for now" approximately what length of time are you speaking of when you say "for now?"
