Yup..employment data was all smoke and mirrors...notice how gold sold off on that data only to come right back?..so many holes in that data i think it was printed on swiss cheese.

Nonfarm payrolls rose a stronger than expected 143K, but 101K of this increase was from the retail sector and was simply a function of fewer layoffs after the holidays because of less hiring before the holiday. December payrolls were revised lower to a 156K decline from -101K. The unemployment rate fell unexpectedly to 5.7% from 6.0%, but this number often bounces around with little meaning. Though we have been optimistic regarding the economy, it's difficult to conclude that this report represents any sort of trend-change; more likely, it's just what we expected after a weak December - a rebound due to seasonal retail swings.
