Not surprised, I imagine some of those 800,000 that lost their unemployment insurance safety net, were forced to take low paying jobs in the retail (say clerks), and construction (say laborers)industry.

The Democrat's agenda-obsessed economic quacks can't have it both ways: The Christmas retail season was EITHER ruined by "Bush's irresponsible tax cut" (though it has yet to become effective), OR,this jobs report is skewed too positive because we are coming down from such an outstanding Christmas retail season.

As usual, the quacks claim BOTH arguments, and expect the liberal media to forbid any discussion of contradiction. It worked for them for 20 years-but this is a new media world-so we'll see...

Jobless Rate Down to 5.7 Percent

- nobody left to lay off,

A U.S. Labor Department economist said Friday there was a big rise in seasonally adjusted figures for U.S. nonfarm payrolls in January because retailers hired fewer people for the holiday season and therefore laid off fewer than usual at the start of the year.
