Elementary, Mr. Watson,

Did you notice how Jacob's posts are logical, quantitative, reasoned and respectful?

Not an LOL to be found.

You responses are subjective and usually comprised of questions to the original poster. Your posts are reactive, lacking research, effort and substance. You also usually make a personal attack which adds nothing except for thread bloat.

These types of posts add no value to FADG or to those of us who are trying to understand the thinking of others.

Your style of posting may be tolerated by some here.
My guess is that you will be welcomed with open arms on some of the other threads.

Tom,

I've stayed out of this discussion between you and Jacob. But it seems to me Jacob has been doing the research and you've not been.

How about some research? First how would you operationalize each of your value judgments such that one could arrive at serious answers?

How do you operationalize "freedom"? Would that be Human Rights Watch judgments? Probably not. Just what would that be?

How do you operationalize "fairness"? Would that be measures of adequacy of health care, some sort of monies spent on education, income inequality, worker rights, just what would that be?

And, finally, how do you operationalize "tolerance"? Would that be some sort of quantifiable measure of ethnic conflict?

I frankly don't see how you can do any of this, save for the fairness. Given that, it strikes me you are saying the US is the best. That's fine. If that's how you feel. But it's not an argument meant to persuade others. Just a personal feeling.
