If you take the time to study their culture, you will see that "morality or even personal consequences" have a much deeper root in the Middle East than in the West. Sometimes it is different, but it is never incompatible with ours Very true. Thanks for pointing it out. It really winds me up to hear from reasonably cultured people in the west such verdicts regarding people of the Middle East a la "they are determined to destroy as many westerners as possible" or "they are not constrained by our morality". What strikes me is that these people have never been to the Middle East and have no idea of what the culture or people of the region are except what they hear in the western media. So the conclusion is that they are irrational & pyromaniac lunatics who cannot be reasoned with. And since reason cannot be used with such homicidal maniacs, we are condemned to the religious and warmongering rhetoric of the Bush administration. How very sad, indeed....
