Powell's multimedia presentation contained many specific allegations but little new information or proof of the presence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. There was no smoking gun. Instead, nearly all of the evidence was largely circumstantial or speculative.

The Nation is getting pretty desperate. Were they around to dismiss Adlai Stevenson's pictures in 1963? But then, those were more trusting days, when even the opposition didn't casually suggest that the US Ambassador to the UN or Sec'y of State was giving out a pack of lies to the entire world.

A question for you, CobaltBlue - was Powell's evidence "circumstantial"? If this were a court case, how would you classify the taped conversations where the lower ranking officer assures his CO that he evacuated all the forbidden weapons, but he has to get rid of the modified truck?
