yeah, turns out he was local to me and did a signing at the harvard bookstore. seems like an alright guy, certainly has some courage to do that, at that time!

glitch says a linux version of 3.0 is a legit possibility, so i'm willing to wait a couple of months for that. i'm practically drooling at the thought of marrying perl to wealthlab, the mind boggles at the possibilities. that would be a tool to level the playing field with the quants haunting Goldman Sach's basement. -g-

lots of free sources for daily data, so if it doesn't work out the spreadsheet route is a definite possiblity. and there are at least two non-excel alternatives to excel, not to mention mySQL etc. -g-
