This could happen in a small way this spring, imho - #reply-18553448

From 315 to 385 it's been pretty much a straight run, not yet confirmed by a subsequent dip, it looks phoney until it's got chart topography on the right-hand side of it ... whether the dip comes from here, or from higher, doesn't matter i think, but there's got to be a dip and until there is a dip no one knows how deep it will be

As for the 'war premium', this is not 1991, where Bush I had a clear mandate to remove iraqi military from Kuwait, and that's all .... he simply did not have the option of a US-controlled regime change in Iraq, and there was never any question that the US could easily accomplish the de-conquest of Kuwait, so when the 'war' came, things were pretty definite, and clearly soon to end

This time it's different - there's an occupation coming up, right in the middle of Chaostan - #reply-18555398 ... and even if that does not directly lead to trouble [and how could it fail to?], there is a perma-war on, that 'axis of evil' hit list still has Iran and North Korea on it, plus the war party has never chosen to make it finite, to declare that they wouldn't add names at will ... so there is no end in sight to 'war premium', it may vary from week to week, but it won't be disappearing, no fat lady to sing this time around
