<How many lives do you think Israel would lose to terror in your six month period> Less than will happen in the alternative most-likely scenario. If the U.S. continues to let things slide (re Israel/Palestine), this is where we're headed: a continuation of the current war; an ever-closer melding of the U.S. war on terrorism with the Israeli colonization of the West Bank; eventually, public opinion throughout the Muslim world leads their governments to a neutral or pro-terrorist position (this is already happening widely, but it will get much worse); Al Queda and similar groups gain a huge Sanctuary, 10-40 countries, where we can't touch them; the U.S. loses the war. If this 6-month period began with a Grand Gesture by Israel (after some serious U.S. arm-twisting), the Rejectionist Palestinian forces would be weakened. Those Palestinians who are willing to accept a Jewish State, will be strengthened, and many Palestinians will gain hope that Israel is serious about allowing a Palestinian State. The level of despair and anger in the Occupied Territories would decline.
