OK, but I've gotten to the point where I rarely visit SI. I'll try to check back about next weekend if I remember. I know those verses well and utterly disagree with your understanding of them. No Brian, you've heard the church disagree with them all your life so you keep your head in the sand because it goes against your grain. I was exactly like you up until about a year ago. Calvinists are really amazing. They agree that only God controls salvation, yet they claim that He hates most people. It also seems to me you are tickled to death that you believe that most will roast in flames. That's why I even responded in the first place. In reality though, I'd bet you couldn't watch for 5 minutes if your worst enemy were really being tortured in real flames. Do you really think this is a god worth worshipping? Adolph Hitler was more compassionate. At least the suffering of the millions only lasted minutes. You have a sick warped view of God Brian. I'll pray for you. Have a good life. Just continue to ignore scripture or add or take away what you need to keep the pagan doctrine of hell used for the last 1500+ years to keep the masses inline intact. While you're responding, look up the cave at Ceasarea Phillipi corresponding to "the gates of hell" and the underworld. It's a pagan place. The concept of hell is a pagan idea. The lake of fire is scriptural. "Hell" is not. Cya
