Mike, I think what you are saying does indeed make a lot of sense. I think that a friendly government in Iraq – along with a strong American military presence in the area – would be a huge stabilizing factor for the entire world. It would be a huge turn off for anyone who is considering supporting Al Qaeda and other terrorist aspirants to major leagues. As such support dries up, it will become no longer fashionable or acceptable to talk the extremist language... and, hopefully, the show will go on... for a long time to come.

I wouldn't mind seeing 'former' Iraqi intelligence guys help hunting down the unreformed Al Qaeda.
