This is not going to happen. The Germans and the French are not going to ride in and save Saddam and the status quo at the eleventh hour, while Britain and America stand dutifully by at attention.

This is a fantasy of desperation. It's pure dreaming.

There is no way.

This is, of course, the coercive inspection regime that was floated as a compromise by various factions in the US *PRIOR* to adoption of UN 1441. And, of course, it was shot down by, if memory serves me, the French, the Germans, the Russians, and the Chinese.

The difference this time is that it will be "US not welcome to the party." Would be too provocative, you know? That way our "allies" can have their cake and eat it too. I'm highly sceptical.
