nsumir-- in the previous 1 1/2 years, no matter how bad the news is on AMAT during their earnings, if you bought AH or the next day while AMAT dropped, it ALWAYS paid off, in the very short term (couple of weeks to a month).

I expect AMAT to hang around 11s, possibly dip to 10s right during earnings CC Tuesday AH, and then rocket ride later this week.

AMAT, when things were really bad in 2001-2002, NEVER EVER told the truth about how bad things were (all they basically stated was that, despite things being rough, they were dominating in their sector). So, this coming Tuesday, don't expect the truth from AMAT.

Also, I can't wait for them to talk, during their earnings CC, about how they'll dominate business in 2008. That's right, the CEO and CFO emphasize what will happen 5years from now (just like they did in 2001, and 2002).
