The fears of widespread urban warfare as Iraqi army retreats to fight in the cities are BS. Iraqi army would love to turn on Saddam right now but are too scared. With 100k+ US troops behind them they would have no problem hunting him down.

Unfortunately, that's wishful thinking and couldn't be further from reality in Iraq. It's true that Iraqis fear Saddam. However, multiple attempts to topple him have failed. Similarly, Hitler's army fought to the end for the most part and never came close to overthrowing him. Saddam, like Hitler, rules by fear and intimidation. It works. Having 200,000 Americans shooting at you isn't going to change that.

The consensus is that we go in, lose a hundred or so Americans and, voila', war's over. That's delusional IMO. Yet, some of our country's most powerful subscribe to that nonsense.

best...

the entire population has decided to evacuate

like this is a surprise. the "vibrant democracy" of kuwait spent the last war tossing dice and taking lap dances in Las Vegas, why should this war be any different?
