it was easy to "stop people in and out", then Israel would have been able to stop all suicide bombings by now.

Very few have come from Gaza. The wall is working. Most of the Gaza attacks have either been incursions into the settlements or rocket attacks at nearby Israeli cities like Sderot.

There is no brief in Israel anymore for retaining the Gaza settlements. But equally, there is no brief for evacuating them unilaterally under fire and handing Hamas a big victory. So things are stuck.

There is a wall around Gaza, and the vast majority of suicide attacks in the last 2 years have come from the West Bank, not Gaza.

Another wall is being built to close off sections of the West Bank from Israel, as well...
