if Al Q and Iraq are not linked why do you think there would be serious attacks by Al Q ? Either they are or they are not linked

They are not linked by nature of the fact they are not allies and have nothing to do with each other. No link. Shiite Moslem Fundamantalists in fact tried to oust Hussein. That is what part of the war between Iran and Iraq was all about. The only link between Islamic fundmantaluists and Hussein is that a) They can not stand him, but b) They have a common enemy (The US). In that vage sense there is a link (they hate each other but they have a common enemy). When I suggest there is no link I mean they are not directly supporting each other. Hussein does not help Al Qauda and Al Qaeda terrorits do not try and help Hussein in any coordinated LINKED way.

All that said, I do believe Al Qaeda will take the chance to strike back at the USA over an invasion of Iraq, and use that invasion as justification. I do not call that a link, bur rather opportunism. Terrorists try to be opportunists. They will use Hussein and even make him a martyr if it suits their cause but that does not mean they ever had direct friendly ties.

So you tell me (on the basis of what I stated) whether or not they are "linked". I say they are not. Even though they are not linked, they will use Hussein (or perhaps Invasion of Iraq if you prefer to see it that way and in fact that would be far more correct) as justification for attack on the US.

what then do you attribute the attack in Bali to ?

Nothing in particular.
Further carrying out their mission of hate.

OBL has gone on record stating that one of the things he most hated about the US was military presense on sacred Saudi Soil. I have no reason to not believe that statement.
Had we not trained him, and trained him well, and had we not kept troops in Saudi Arabia, I do not think 911 would have happened. It is possible that not having troops in the region would have preveted the disaster. Who knows?
