>>Wandering around India, they seem to be as happy as people in the USA<<

was wandering through Slovenia Thur to Sun, and although I dont know about US, I sure can say I was on the top of the world (in spite of some nasty blisters...)

We (me and my buddy Helmut) made another 70 km by foot and some time this year we should end at Rijeka on Adriatic sea - 1500 km altogether since we have started.

Here's some odd refs from our way...

As I said, you have the right attitude that would take you from the worst situation to an ever improving one, and I agree with that attitude...

Havinng said that, my reference was merely to point out why the "efficiency in food production is not necessarily the best strategy IF quality is compromised"

I made mention that the above is most probably motivated by the need to feed millions, which in turn this is caused by an uncontrollable population growth and no measures to slow down such growth.

As for happiness...

I do not think that happiness is more concentrated in the poor, or in a specific nationality, or amongst the rich...

Happiness is an individual choice... regardless of origin, background, socioeconomic status or whatever... each individual chooses to be happy or not.
