Lindy, the French are not in any position to whine about the USA sorting out terrorist supporters. They conducted the frogman and woman terrorist attack against the Rainbow Warrior. They are pond scum who should be kicked off the WWII Victor's Parade Security Council. Chirac and his oil and money-grubbing mates should be told to get lost. They so lack ethics that they don't understand that Saddam isn't an ideal citizen of the world and shouldn't be left in charge of a chicken run, let alone Iraq. Increasingly, it also seems that the UN is going to be reamed out and rebuilt in a form suitable to the modern globalized world. Putting Libya in charge of Human Rights and Iraq in charge of disarmament, with Syria rostered into the leadership of the Security Council [or whatever it was], is a cruel joke. None of them should be in charge of their own countries, let alone others. The USA should set up the United States of Freedom, right there in Mesopotamia, the cradle once again of civilization, with the palaces acting as regional headquarters for the various parts of the world which choose to belong [or are required to join if they fall apart and become dangerous to their neighbours]. The oil would fund the thing. With capitalist development, Iraq would become a large scale Lebanon financial and development centre of the middle east, similar to the development of Lebanon before mayhem broke out there. Iraqis would become wealthy. Since Kuwait was formed artificially and was saved by the UN, it should become another province of Mesopotamia and the oil should be used to lubricate the United States of Freedom and development in the area [rather than the fortunes of the ruling Sheiks who have no special rights to such a windfall over the rest of humanity and who in the dog eat dog rules of the middle east were unable to defend themselves]. Come to think of it, maybe Saudi Arabia could do with a bit of a rebore too, or, for the computer generation, a software upgrade. They wouldn't know what a rebore is. Hmmm, Iran isn't far away either. They might like to join the United States of Freedom as well. The irony would be that Saddam achieved his great pan-Arab renaissance and world-scale power by inducing the Great Satan's creation of the United States of Freedom. The average Arab would have some opportunity in life and could afford Canadian smoked salmon, Californian avocado, Kiwifruit, Toyotas and phragmented photon powered cdma2000 cyberphones. They would live a life of peace, light, harmony, happiness, prosperity, longevity, fun and love. Which is better than hoping Saddam's thugs don't put you in the front line against Iran, Kuwait, the USA or Israel - or straight in the dungeon. Mqurice
