Germans Believe U.S. a Nation of Warmongers Well, we beat the "Hun" out of them, didn't we? Germany as a bunch of pacifists is not too bad a problem, IMO. Better that way than back at everybody's throats! NATO as 19 members. 15 are with us, and 3 oppose. Not too bad a percentage. The media is just too used to thinking of Europe in terms of Germany and France. And so are the Germans and the French!

if this latest German opinion poll is accurate There's a statement of Rumsfeld in an interview on German TV Sunday night which fits the quoted headline: Rumsfeld: <Well, there are a lot of people in the media who like a good fight and they want to stir it up and they keep pressing this and pressing that. Well, you know, that's what sells newspapers. They like to look for some difference and highlight it and emphasize it.> defenselink.mil I wasn't able to find the original questionnaire at the poll institute forsa.de but it must have been insincere, in a kind of "have you stopped beating your wife?" way.
