I still remember my g'parents discussing all the issues with their heavy accents, scouring the newspaper, TV, debates

they knew voting was a privilege and a 'right' in their new country, for they finally had a voice

voting day was HUGE in my family!

we had to be there well before the polls opened, so we would get up when it was dark - had to wear your best clothes

they would take me along, in the booth, to see how it was done

then out to breakfast [a real treat]

psssst, they usually voted democratic
