>>everybody sends the money back home<<

No, few Chinese in the US do. I used to give my parents a couple of hundreds dollar/year, but they never spent it, all put it in the bank. So I stop giving them. And a lot of Chinese here can tell you the same story. As a matter of fact, a lot of overseas Chinese (whether they live in the US, in Europe, or in Austrilia, or Japan, were laughed at when they go back to China for a visit because they are so stingy in spending the money compared to the local Chinese.

And if you think the money spending in China now are coming from the US, you are wrong. To the contrary, a lot of "dirty money" goes the other way round. Quite a few of corrupted Chinese officials, after they made the "dirty money", they came here (most of them in LA) and used the cash to buy houses. And those houses are expensive, at least $300,000 to $500,000, and all in cash. One of my cousin (from Taiwan originally) is in real estate business in LA and he told me.
