Japan may cancel friendlies if war breaks out
Monday, February 10, 2003 at 18:00 JST
PIACENZA, Italy — Japan may cancel two friendlies in North America next month if the United States leads a war against Iraq, Japan Football Association (JFA) chairman Saburo Kawabuchi said Sunday.

Japan are due to play Uruguay in San Jose on March 26 and then travel to Seattle to face the U.S. three days later, but Kawabuchi said the JFA are keeping a close eye on developments in the gulf.

"We may be forced to rethink our plans for our U.S. tour," said Kawabuchi.
