Again, that's not true, they are more informed on what's going on in Afghanistan and who Karzai is than most folks. The thing a lot of people miss is that most of the Taliban have changed hats and are onside with the current government. Afghanistan is a very mixed up place, and "REAL" elections are not going to work right now. No government, medical, educational infrastructure is going to happen without foreign support. Afghanistan was/is a troubled land that was part incubator for Western terrorists and it needed intervention. (Perhaps your tone will change when they start smelling Iraqi ricin Monaco delivered via Al qaeda) I think you're being too idealistic with Afghanistan, the place is totally screwball, and it needs help to get on to its feet. You know the oil thing you keep harping on, while benefitting the West, it also benefits, Kyrgistan, Kazakstan and all the rest of the 'stan countries. The pipeline ain't going to happen in Afghanistan until there's an end to most of the lawlessness and that's only going to happen if there is massive aid and that appears to be the case from my perspective and from friends who are more knowledgeable than me.
