We saved the French from the Germans twice before this century in WWI and WWII. NOw here they are, 50 yrs later, in bed with the Germans again. Im beginning to think they like it. Do debts have a statute of limitations? We like to remind the French that we saved them from German occupation in WW2, and that they owe us a perennial debt of gratitude...and they do. Let us not conversely forget that the French fought alongside our forces during the American revolution and that we owe them a debt of perennial gratitude for helping us achieve our indipendence from Britain...and yet neither act of mutual support obliges either of our countries to follow the other blindly.
