This has bothered me since we stopped the draft.
SOmeone I know said yesterday:

"I don't care if there is a war or not. I don't know anyone in the army. As long as it doesn't effect me."

It really brought me up short. I think it is dangerous for Americans to say "Oh, the military wants to go to war. As long as it isn't me."

I don't like the way the military benefits are being managed and cut. We have lost focus and created another Us-vs-them dynamic.
