"I am only bringing up in the topic of what is going to happen in Iraq after its imminent (and unilateral, it seems) invasion."

The same thing that happened in Bosnia and Kosovo, when the United States unilaterally, without the UN's blessing, saved hundreds of thousands of people from genocide, rape and torture. Europeans played the fools then and you are doing the same now. Wait till after the Iraqi people regain their freedom and the mass graves and torture equipment and the WMDs are unearthed, you'll have egg on your face once more. What was your argument against dropping the bombs on Bosnia and Kosova? What was your argument against stopping the genocide in Bosnia. Oh yes, I remember, people such as yourself were saying, we have no proof that there is actually genocide occuring. The people fleeing the region were simply looking for a better place to live...

"That, incidentally, is what we call a "puppet government"."

Just run it by me again, what would you envision, being the pragmatic person that you are, as the sort of government a country that has just come out of the prehistoric age should form. I mean, explain it so it matches the reality of what life and the culture of Afghanistan is like today. You keep harping on Karzai being a puppet, but what kind of government do you propose. Why can't you look at the situation with Karzai as being an interim one. Can you imagine a person fool enough to run for election in that country? Standing on a podium in some warlords area of the country, you'd be plain old target practice.
But please, I'd like you tell us, what government could in reality be formed there today?

zonder, you posted:

Afghanistan's Minister for Mines and Industries telling Reuters that they will build "a $2bn pipeline through the country to take gas from energy-rich Turkmenistan to Pakistan and India" and that Unocal is "the lead company among those that would build the pipeline".

What the news item actually stated:

Mr Razim said US energy company Unocal was the "lead company" among those that would build the pipeline,

In the 1990's Unocal was the lead company in the consortium. It does not mean that they are now, given that they have repeatedly stated that they have no further interest in the project.

As you confirmed, you have no evidence that Unocal has shown any renewed interest in the project.
