Yes. The lower the stock goes, the more upside there is. The better a deal I can get, the more leverage/risk I am willing to take on. You need a bigger potential upside, to justify LEAPs rather than stock. If you aren't anticipating at least a doubling in the stock, don't even think about options. The bid-ask spread on options eats 5% of the upside, right at the start (it's like buying a mutual fund with a 5% load). The potential peak stock price for AMAT at the next cycle top, is the same, whether we trough now at 12 or 5.
