The Marshall Plan myth was that we "saved' post-war Europe from Stalinism with gigantic payments of dollars. That's bullshit, of course. Europe was saved when the emerging Germany adopted supply-side economics (which they have since, unfortunately abandoned). We only need to make sure the Iraqi's are absolutely sure we will incinerate the rest of them of they get out-of-line again, and they can re-build themselves-just like the Germans did. If, indeed, we wind up having to incinerate them, the next country we knock down in this war (Iran, N. Korea) will better understand what's required of them. Incinerating all three would, of course, be perfectly acceptable-and cost very little...
