That's simplistic, I think. If what is found is not made public, it simply becomes fodder for cover-up charges and conspiracy theories. And we have quite enough of those already.

And if what is found is made public, then intelligence sources are at risk. And I pointed the dangers of that. We in CA might be speaking Japanese had that been done following Pearl Harbor. Without that victory at Midway, the Japanese would have taken Midway and the US Pacific fleet might have come rushing out of Pearlm Harbor to defend it- -right into a carefully laid trap. With it, the Japanese were the ones who got trapped.

Some people are worried that a favored politician or two might look bad.
Politicians are expendable in these matters. Intelligence sources aren't.
