Rose,

These are very troubling times...with deadly decisions to be made in order to avoid worse ones.

Having been in combat, I still have pictures in my head of the children and that simply breaks part of your heart forever. The part of your heart that's remains is for the people you love, your humanity ,and for a God if you pray to one. And most important...there is always hope...hang on to it with all you have.

I don't know what else to say my friend other than go out and look up at the stars tonight...we all look at the same stars..it can bring us together.

Rob

Maybe, like this. I think it's told with unnecessary pathos, but even so...

"They come from above, from the air, and will kill us and destroy us. I can explain to you that we fear this every day and every night." – Shelma (Five years old)
...
"I think every hour that something bad will happen to me" said Hadeel, aged 13.

Assem, five, and one of the youngest interviewed, said: "They have guns and bombs and the air will be cold and hot and we will burn very much."

But it is the fear expressed by the majority of the children that most shocked the team. In a breaking voice 13-year old Hind told them: "I feel fear every day that we might all die, but where shall I go if I am left alone?"
