However, in the future, due to the peaking of the Hubbert Curve, fossil fuels will become:
1. Increasingly scarce (production will steadily decline)
2. Increasingly expensive

France probably agrees since they have upwards of 60 billion in potential oil contracts with IRAQ.

Hi Thomas, thanks for the post and links.

>>He who controls the flow of oil from the Middle East not only ensures the survival of his own society, but also holds the power to decide the survival or failure of other societies. This is the Great Game, in capital letters. It is not about “petty oil profits,” but the Control of the World.<<

I totally agree. Middle East is the most important strategic area, especially to the industrialized countries. In fact, in my post (#3716) I expressed a similar opinion.

However, I'm not an expert in oil industry, and may not be able to have a good understanding of the technical terms in those links. If you could briefly summarize the oil situation and post it for the readers here, I would appreciate it. And how do you think the developments of the technologies in other energy sources like sun light, wind, nuclear, electric power etc.? With your view on Bushies motive for the Iraq war would certainly help, too.

Best regards.
