After the Pentagon was hit, we were warned that another plane was heading towards Washington City. That's right. Now I remember. The speculation was that that plane was to take out the WH. Prior to September 11, 2001, I think there were only 4 AFBs who were set to scramble jets over the U. S. When you think of it, it made sense. We hadn't been attacked by air for 60 years and it costs money to keep jets armed and ready. Had more been ready, there probably would have been screaming and moaning about wasting the taxpayer's money. The Cold War was over, wasn't it? Who needs a military, anyway?
