Blood Wine... isn't that a Klingon drink? :)

Seriously, the Pentagon is already planning to reposition many troops and bases out of Germany as a cost-cutting move. It's very long overdue (they are a long way from any front line there... and the Cold War is over anyway.)

Romania, Poland, etc., will be cheaper, and closer to any potential action anyway.

ALL our troops are coming out of Saudi Arabia (and all those expensive bases are closing) just as soon as the Iraq war is over, too.

The Saudi royal family has already made the decision to ask us to leave.... They don't like having a target painted on their backs for the Islamic radicals to shoot at because of 'infidels' in the Holy Land, and they really don't want to do anything to encourage a strong Democracy in Iraq.

Democracies have a way of stirring up popular opposition to Monarchies :)

Business Week is also reporting that many of our troops may leave South Korea because of strong opposition from the locals.... (The troops are too few in number to significantly deter a full-out North Korean assault... and too many for a mere 'trip wire'.)

Dear Westi: OK, I will give them another one if you got any pull with Congress. FREE JEEP FROM MERCEDES!! They are in the process of DESTROYING an AMERICAN icon by radically redesigning the JEEP for ON ROAD rather then OFFROAD travel. (gg) JDN
