Ah, I love those kinda questions, Fred. Hey, I wonder where we'd be if Bush weren't (s)elected president! Would 9/11 have happened? Would Democratic leaders have been mailed Anthrax? Would North Korea be attempting to work out some other kind of solution? Would the European Alliance not be splintered by a Russian, French and German splinter alliance? Would NATO have become more progressive and perhaps less reliant on the US? Would China still wanna trade? Would Japan and the US have better tech relations? Would the jobs problem in the US be better? Would we be seeing a wrecking ball on environmental and health policies? Would the Yankees win like they've done in previous administrations? Would this thread even exist--lol?

The best solution is to press for full disclosure, especially on political assassinations and questionable deaths.

If politically-influential deaths such as 9/11, Anthrax, sniper, Wellstone etc. can't be avoided, full immediate and open investigation into every thread of influence is the next best thing.

Anyone who stonewalls, excuses or "national security / sources and methods" these investigations is automatically suspect.
