I noted something in his address. He is spending over a billion for research and development of alternative energy sources...yahoo...and he is spending 10 million on aids research in Africa.

I understand the awful crisis in Africa. Millions of people are going to die and leave orphaned children. It is tragic. But I stop short of shouting Yahoo. I don't see that it will make a dent in the tragic circumstances. That same 10 million or part of it, spent on developing alternative energy could help put the world in a position to move forward as an energy efficient planet. The fact that we are not an energy efficient planet is one of the factors at the core of our generation's dilemma. Aids is a side issue that has reasonable resolutions that don't require technical research and development. Research and development in alternative energy would be a huge boost all by it self in the American economy.

I'll be voting for the candidate who will spend the least next time. I'm sick of all these phony baloney programs and payoffs to voting blocks. We'll know he's serious about our wallets when he eliminates the NEA, NPR, AIDS research, the education department, the peace corps, the labor department, farm subsidies, and various commerce departments. Also, an end to favorable tax treatment for non profit corporations.

Until then, there is no hope for fiscal sanity.
