Did you notice the slip in the first email in the chain (from the guy who received the "worst case scenario")?

He writes (to the author of the scenario): "Like everyone, we hope that the debris impact analysis is correct and all this discussion is mute."

I think he meant "moot". Or, given that this is NASA, maybe he did mean "mute".

I'm no scientist, but it sure looks to me like there's a real good possibility that this is what happened to Columbia.
