"accounts for use of loopholes and tax shelters"

List a few of these for me. This is a famous lib response, but I got news for you. There ain't many of these left. Your residential mortgage interest is the biggest one. The examples that other libs have given in previous discussions like this are bogus. They assume that illegal tax fraud is one of the deductions.

"depends on whether you are taxing 'income' or 'wealth'"

FYI, it is called Federal INCOME tax. What are the "wealth" taxes you are referring too? Or are you proposing a new tax system?

"If - for example - one imaginary individual had 50% of all income in the country, and paid 50% of all taxes"

Now I think I see the game you are playing. No wonder your statistics made no sense. You are basing comparisons on a tax system THAT DOES NOT EXIST (and shouldn't).
