Oh, I see. Terrorists should concern Powell only if their last names are Bin Laden and they are alive. Hmmm, interesting way to think, Win.

Win, maybe the translation I saw was different from the one Powell and co saw, but it gave no comfort to the idea that Osama and Saddam are in cahoots.

On the contrary, Osama has Saddam in his gunsights. The USA is doing Osama a big favour by removing Saddam, which will perhaps open the prospects for an Islamic takeover, led by Osama's revolutionaries.

While Saddam, Uday, Qsay and co are running the show, Osama and Islamic Jihad will not get anywhere.

The USA is about to support Osama in a defeat of Saddam. Saudi Arabia is also trembling, saying they'll go democratic or something.

So far, it seems that Osama is winning.

Both Osama and Saddam want to take over all of Arabia and the oil and get rid of Israel [and probably a good number of the Jews, the survivors of whom would be deported, perhaps to the USA - which would be a good move for the USA to accept them].

I listened to an interview of the ex-boss of the nuclear stuff in Iraq just now. He is in favour of getting rid of Saddam and thinks Iraq will be much better off.

The impression I have is that Saddam is not going to find a way out with UN inspections and stuff, even with total compliance and submission to King George II. George just doesn't like him enough to accept him as boss of Iraq, even as a mere colonial puppet.

Therefore, Saddam either leaves town with some booty and retires to Libya, Syria or New Zealand, or goes down in a blaze of glory [by his lights anyway].

I still predict a 100 minute war, a world record; all over in a single Globalstar orbit [110 minutes]. Total casualties, including Iraqis, of about 3,000. Iraqis will NOT want to be included in the casualty list since it's a lost cause and Saddam is NOT something to fight for.

Islamic Jihadists will be better to let the occupation take place, then start the attrition when the USA isn't so trigger happy and gets sick of being there. During the invasion, American soldiers will have their fingers on the trigger all the time and there won't be any soft targets. Better to let the tsunami come over and let things settle down.

If bin Laden is actually dead, what are we to make of Powell and the war marketing team trumpeting the bogus tape as a causus belli[sic]? A convenient fabrication, perhaps? Not that that would be Orwellian or anything . . .

Cheesy, indeed.

As far as I know, neither Powell nor anyone in the Administration has taken the position that OBL is dead, but if you want to saddle Powell with that notion so as to be able to deliver cheese, be my guest.

So the tape is bogus, huh? Why don't you enlighten us why? A bit of evidence will do, it surely is an interesting topic.

Orwellian? Yes, I agree. Quite.
