The UK, Canada and Germany are our closest allies.

Germany used to be pretty close but not as close as the other two. We don't share the long border, common air defense command, and shared status as eachother's biggest trading partner with Germany like we do with Canada and we don't have a long history of frequent military cooperation around the world like we do with the UK. Also the common language that we share with the UK and most of Canada isn't there with Germany.

Then last week, Rumsfield went off on Germany again,
comparing it to Libya, a rogue terrorist nation

He didn't say Germany was like Libya. He just said both where on the list of Security Council countries that we can expect no help from in regards to Iraq.
