Ameritrade Cutting 300 Jobs by September
Tue Feb 11, 1:44 PM ET

OMAHA, Neb. - Discount broker Ameritrade is cutting another 300 jobs as it integrates its operations with Datek Online of Jersey City, N.J.

Ameritrade and Datek merged in a $1.29 billion stock deal last September. By January, the combined companies had 2,000 employees, down from a combined total or 2,600 at the time of the merger, and Ameritrade said it wants to cut that by 15 percent to 1,700 by September.

Some of the workers affected by the latest round of layoffs were notified Monday in Omaha; Baltimore; Kansas City, Mo.; Ogden, Utah; Fort Worth, Texas; and Jersey City.

The layoffs will be conducted over the next several months, Ameritrade spokeswoman Donna Kush said.
