I never fault a plan that works. The best thing about trading in a down market with shorting or very short term long positions is that you learn to exit quickly and decisively - something most people don't ever learn when the market is a raging bull. I follow your posts, as well as everyone else here, although I don't always comment. I wouldn't have said I thought you were a good trader if I hadn't observed it.

"So many companies retirement obligations base their assumptions on a rising market." - You hit the nail on the head wit this one - most pension plans are in deep do-do since they based their payouts on getting 8% return a year -several of the big ones need to add billions to the funds to coffers to be able to stay on track, andthat just isnt happening.
