Bombardier Role in $1.56 Billion Cdn Contract for
Operation and Maintenance Services for the Massachusetts
Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in the United States

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--FEBRUARY 25, 2003 - 12:34 EST
Bombardier Transportation is a member of
Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Company, LLC (MBCR), which
was awarded a $1.56-billion Cdn ($1 billion US), 5-year services
contract by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority
(MBTA). Under the contract MBCR will operate and maintain MBTA's
fleet of 377 coaches, 80 locomotives and 38 work trains.

During today's announcement, William Spurr, President of
Bombardier Transportation, North America, said "This award, which
encompasses one of the largest fleets of commuter rail vehicles
in the U.S. and Canada, contributes to solidify our leadership
position in the services area of our business. Bombardier
already maintains two of the largest BiLevel commuter fleets in
the U.S. and Canada plus some 3,000 vehicles in Europe, Asia and
Africa."

In addition to Bombardier, which has a 20% interest in MBCR,
other members include Connex North America Inc. and Alternate
Concepts Inc. (ACI). The three members have extensive experience
in operating and maintaining passenger rail systems both in North
America and abroad.
