Thanks for the response -- I really enjoy the philosophical discussions that emerge on so many of these threads, although I rarely participate.

I think you might enjoy the following article, as it relates to the "act first, think later" study you described. Specifically, it proposes (and references several supporting studies) that intuition is actually superior to rational analysis when you're dealing with complex situations.
