But as soon as someone does bring it up, some bull will try to make a case for forced margin buying for those that are short via margin, trying to make a case for us being on the brink of a rally. I'd bet there are probably less margin-using bears than there are bulls, though.

Although I haven't read any statistics I think, as JRI implied, that there are probably a lot less people on margin now than there was 2-3 years ago, so it might be less of an issue now.

Maybe we'll see more of this discussion when the VIX gets closer to 50 and the fear is clearer in the bulls' eyes.
