LOL...the problem with Costco is all the other stuff that is there.
I buy cartridges one at a time there, unless I'm doing a large shopping, then I get a better price to buy a larger box. Saves me time and money. But you can buy them one at a time.
I NEVER buy anything at Costco besides what I go in for. And I go early. I don't like lines, either. Going at midday is a killer.

As for Dell - I'm sure these deals eat into their margins. I don't think your purchase alone hurt them, but multiplying you with about 20,000 people, and you begin to see an order of magnitude.

This is the same argument I used at my last place of work regarding limos and car services. I complained about the looseness of rules and how common their use was. HR responded that the difference between a cab and car/limo was not that much (I figured out it was about $35 per ride, minimally), so it wasn't a problem. I then responded that if you did a minimal estimated of 100 cars per day, that's $3,500 per day...minimally. Over a year, I figured out that would represent 6 mid level manager's salaries, or 12 lower level employees. Given that the VPs were not getting laid off, it stood to reason they should take it on the chin a bit and save a few jobs.
I was let go the next week. LOL. Asshats. Personally, I saved that damn company cash with everything I did. I never took cars/limos, I drove if I could (at .35 per mile, the savings were considerable), and I stayed at the least expensive lodgings. Guess trying to do right by the company isn't well regarded.
