Just do some preliminary fly-overs and drop 1000's of white flags for the Iraqi soldiers to wave when the time comes .

That will end much of the war just after it starts , and help it be casualty free.

It's not just about Saddam , but the nuke-proliferation capability growing now in Iran , Libya , already in
Pakistan (the Islamic Bomb<G>) N Korea etc.
A very strong message is being sent in advance with the final Iraq solution ...
and they will all get the message from this.

I can understand the dangers of obsessed fundamentalist Islamist , dreaming of a pan-arab world for you and me to be slaves in
but that nutcase in Korea is totally bizaare.

way out there...totally gone.

Merely using the diplomatic strategies that have worked well in that area for the past 800 years would have been cheaper and more effective. The administration doesn't have a single top level decision maker who is familiar with the history of the area or the culture. No wonder they don't know how to do anything but employ military might. Hey, nobody likes Saddam, not even the Arabs. But this is just plain stupid and reinforces the reality that the administration doesn't know how to run the government.

Talk to almost any career diplomat and you'll see that there are other, better, cheaper alternatives. That's what diplomacy is about--finding a better way to get the job done, other than using armed conflict.
