Hey, the "elite" have been getting down on their knees to the "Culture" of Europe ever since the Rich started doing the "Grand Tour" and sending their boys to Euro and Brit schools after the Civil war.

You mean the Bush family? Surely the grandfather was a part of that group, the old WASP families of the NE; and papa Bush moved in those crowds.

As for the French-German-Belgium issues, it looks, on the surface, at least, as if it's one more badly handled foreign policy bit on the part of the Bush folk. I noticed you said something about the Holbrooke interview. Holbrooke is not happy with the way the Bush folk have handled the diplomacy aspects of all this, wants to play down the split, etc. He is, of course and not surprisingly, an Iraq hawk. Kupshan was much more interesting.
