Lizzie, I am with you there. As a self-employed attorney, I have been paying the whole load plus the payroll tax for my Secretary for many years. You are right about the X Generations Social Security payments being jeopardized. By 2020, Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid will be a huge percentage of GDP. It will become worse with each passing year.

"If so I wouldn't count on "getting this back in retirement""

So you are so mistrustful of our gov't that you think that nobody will recieve this if born after 1964? When our government says that it will do it, I will believe it until there is evidence to the contrary.

"And besides almost anyone can get better than the 1% rate of return from this scam"

I agree. I think we should abolish it. But I can't draw the conclusion that our government will steal what is promised to us as a result. These demo social engineering plans are dumb imo, but give me evidence that our gov't will take this money from us.

"contracting workforce so these people (I am one) have to pay the entire 15K/year themselves."

Let's abolish it then. I am in the same place as you in that I have my own corporation so the company (me) pays the other half. I agree that it is a ripoff. But I trust our gov't more than you. Don't trust them completely, but don't think they will stiff the people who have paid in.
