Ron, answers to your questions-

1. Jim, re "The royalties are less for CDMA handsets that include a Qualcomm chipset than they are for those that don’t include a Qualcomm chipset."
I'm confused. Do you now understand the above to be true or false? <<<

Ron, I misinterpreted Slacker’s answer to a previous question and had a “senior” moment in which I vaguely recalled that the above could possibly have been true. Slacker straightened me out in a subsequent post. Therefore, the royalties should be the same irregardless if the handset includes a Qualcomm chipset or not.

2. re "the fact that there is a lead time of approximately one quarter of MSM shipments to handset sales."
One quarter seems reasonable, but I am unaware that has been established as fact. <<<<

I’m using one quarter as the approximate lead time. I believe I heard it mentioned during one of the Q&A responses to an inventory issue question, but I couldn’t swear to it.

3. re "Up until the last two quarters the MSM shipments have consistently fluctuated between 11 and 16 million per quarter."

"11 million"? How far back are you going? <<

Q1FY00

4. re "I will also include in the spreadsheet QTL EBT$ per handset sales which is the more appropriate metric as Ron suggests."

I was using MSM as the denominator as MSM shipments have been the metric provided in the quarterly reports. Handset sales are occasionally given during the Q&A and at random in presentations to “analysts”. I have emailed IR requesting that the handset sales metric be provided along with MSM shipments.
